As many racers try to reach high speeds in a short amount of distance, Land Speed Racing just tries to reach high speeds, currently in the excess of 400 mph. There is a class for you, in just about any kind of vehicle you could build, a motorcycle or any other type of vehicle. Bonneville 2000 has racing in August, September, and October. The Land Speed Racing presence on the World Wide Web continues to expand in new and amazing ways. The latest wrinkle is a real-time live Chat session hosted each week by Jonathan Amo on their Bonneville/Team Amo Website. The chat is held online every Tuesday night at 7 PM Mountain Time. Of course it’s free to all! Just point your browser at http://www.amoproductions/268 then click on the Bonneville page and select the Live Chat link. The chats are lively, fast paced, group discussions on a wide variety of Land Speed Racing topics. These sessions usually last a couple of hours, and cover a lot of ground. They also have held theme discussions featuring noted guests. Recently, Louise Ann Nothe, who just released a new Bonneville Book, Bonneville Salt Fltas, (which you can purchase off of their site), discussed her time spent researching the Salt Flats Racing History. Jonathan, crew chief and webmaster of Team Amo, has done an excellent job of setting this up for the land speed racing community, and will be a force to be watched on the Salt.
So whether your interest is as simple as where to stay while attending the races, or as complex as how to coax that last MPH from your new fuel injection, there is a new medium for bench racing. Much like the telephone changed the ways people shared information and ideas, when we use the computer as a communications device, it expands our horizons.
