Bike Star Helps SIDS Charity

Kiwi superbike ace Aaron Slight, now in preparation for another season on the world circuit, has paused to help the Cot Death Association.

Slight fans worldwide will bid via the internet for clothing and other goodies belonging to the star, with all proceeds going to the charity.

A Dutch auction is running this month among members of Slight Advantage, his international supporter organisation. Among 30 items on offer are racing gear, clothing from Slight\'s Castrol Honda team and memorabilia.

\"I know people value racing mementoes - we get requests from all around the world - and members of Slight Advantage in particular are big fans,\" said the expat Kiwi, known as one of the more modest racers on the championship circuit.

\"At the same time I\'m keen to help the cot death people who do a wonderful job, so an auction of gear with all the proceeds going to the organisation seemed the best of both worlds.\"

Slight says he has been a supporter of the Cot Death Association (also known as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, SIDS) since the family of his close friend Robbie Phillis, an Australian former world superbike star, was hit by the tragedy several years ago.

\"The effect on Robbie\'s family has been devastating, and my wife Megan and I feel a strong empathy. This is just one small thing we can do to help.\"

Slight is currently in Australia testing a new V-twin engined Honda superbike for the world championship season which starts in South Africa in April.
