A world wide fuel injection upgrade has enhanced the rideability of Buell\'s 1999 Lightning X1 and Thunderbolt S3 models.
All New Zealand Buell dealers have been supplied with a re-calibrated cartridge for their computerised scanalysers. This sophisticated service tool is then plugged into the Buells, and modifies the existing electronic \"mapping\" in the DDFI fuel injection system.
\"There is a huge improvement in slow speed in traffic riding,\" said Morgan and Wacker service manager Gary Dick. \"It\'s all to do with rideability, enhancing low RPM performance while retaining the great high RPM power and torque.\"
All new Buells will have the re-calibrated DDFI system, and the modification will also be done on all 1999 X1s and S3s at no charge to the owners.
The change can be done with a service, or at any time when a Buell owner books their bike into an authorised dealer. The modification will take about an hour, including a road test, and the benefit will be immediately noticeable. There are no component changes, it\'s all internal and electronic.
Test rides will be available on the enhanced Buells at all four authorised New Zealand dealers, and existing X1 and S3 owners should contact their dealerships service department.
