The Long Way Around will take you on a journey through spectacular scenic areas you will not have taken before. Bring your camera!
Saturday’s distance is approximately 400km, and Sunday’s 280km.
Depending on the weather, there may be small sections that will require a moderate level of off road rider skills, and we recommend bikes are fitted with knobblys. These sections may include short steeper inclines and declines, rutted areas, slippery/muddy terrain and stream crossings.
There will also be several optional challenge sections suitable for the competent off-road rider on enduro style bikes.

THE LONG WAY AROUND – Taupo to Taupo 2-Day Adventure Ride:

DESCRIPTION: The Long Way Around for 2013 is back…now as a 2-Day adventure….covering more distance and new, un-explored trail than ever before! This event is a partly guided, plus roll charted/GPS navigated adventure ride, taking riders approximately 680km over 2 days, the long way around Lake Taupo, including offshoots onto private farmland and forestry roads and tracks you have never had the opportunity to explore before.
On the Saturday night riders will be welcomed at a charming, comfortable lodge for the night, to relax at the bar or around the fire and enjoy a delicious, well-deserved buffet dinner. A social evening where everyone can share their stories and one lucky rider will be the winner of a new set of Continental tyres.
Sunday morning starts with a hearty breakfast at the lodge before setting off on day 2 of the adventure.

REGISTRATION MEET & GREET
8.00 – 9.30pm, Friday 12th April. This will be at the Suncourt Hotel, 14 Northcroft St, Taupo. A great pre-ride chance for everyone to have a catch-up and a chinwag, and ensure you are all prepared to get away early the following morning without any hitches. This will include a pre-ride briefing, where all riders must sign-on, and collect your roll-charts, badges, stickers, and The Long Way Around Tees (pre-order).
Then it’s all go Saturday morning to head out and start your adventure. After a full day of fun we all meet again at a remote lodge with rustic charm and a relaxed atmosphere to spend the night.
On Sunday after day 2 of the adventure, riders are welcomed back at the Suncourt again in the afternoon.
The Epic van will be available to carry bags you do not wish to take with you on your bike.
